Each year, structure fires cause over $200 million in damage to properties in Minnesota. A significant portion of this damage can happen after the fire is out.

As a property manager, your ability to efficiently respond to a fire will have a large impact on minimizing any long-term damage your building and tenants suffer. 

This course will go over simple strategies you can put into place after even a small fire at your property to limit the damage and ensure a return to normal building operations as quickly as possible.  In addition, we will conduct a “Live Burn” at the end of the class where attendees will be able to witness first hand how a fire spreads and the effectiveness of sprinklers in knocking down and extinguishing flames.

Learning Objectives:

  • Witness a live burn to get a better understanding of structure fires
  • Learn what a property manager can do in the hours and days after a fire to limit damage to their building
  • Understand the various people that can be involved in the aftermath of a fire

 

FEATURING

Scott Clemente is the owner of SERVPRO of Minnetonka.

In this role, he has over 5 years’ experience working directly with commercial property managers and building engineers in in the areas of fire, smoke, water and mold mitigation.  

Scott regularly conducts educational sessions for various Twin Cities based industry groups including the Minnesota chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Minnesota Educational Facility Management Professionals group.

Scott holds a BA in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia. He has also earned his certifications from the IICRC in Water Damage Restoration and Applied Structural Drying.  He lives in the Twin Cities with his wife, 6-year-old son, 4-year-old daughter and 1-year old daughter.


An application will be submitted to the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce for 1 hour for Real Estate continuing education.
